laser hair removal

I have had laser hair removal with epilite on my face for 4 sessions, that burnt my skin and left me with scars, following that I had laser with Apogee which was fine, but done in the UK. Now I am back in USA and I tried the synergon system with no results, i.e. no shedding of hairs nor burning. Should I ask them to cont with the synergon but increase the optical and wavelength settings?
I have dark east asian skin and black hairs.
This is the chin and cheek hair. The fine vellous hairs have grown back after the epilite stronger
