bleaching - does it hurt?

i'm thinking about getting my teeth professionally whitened by my dentist. can anyone tell me if this hurts? or what the drawbacks are?

I had my teeth whitened by my dentist. It didn't hurt at all. The dentist told me my teeth might be sensitive for a few days after the treatment, but I didn't really notice. And, my teeth look great!
