I have had four Mesotherapy treatments on my upper arms. The first two I had the bruising which went away and all else normal. The third hurt more than usual and my arms swelled considerably. It too went away but within three days I began to get hives all over my arms, stomach, back and legs.

The Dr gave me cortisone and prednisone. He did warn that it may erupt again. Two days later, hives were better and I went in for my fourth treatment, He assured me that the chemical that he suspected I reacted to, was eliminated. The day after the treatment, hives all over!

I went to a different Dr but did not disclose the Meso. Very bad, but my husband was present! He gave my another shot of Kenalog (?) and a prescription for Allegra. Today is better.

The big question...Should I actually have another treatment? I have spent all this money and do not see a difference yet. Am I going to cause serious damage to my body by risking it? I will tell the Meso Dr that I reacted again and I am afraid that he will have to take out another chemical and will the remaining ones even work?

Aagh, advice please!

hi there,
when i did my meso i got horrible hives all over. my dr. gave me predisone tablets, which i took over a course of a few weeks. you have to start w/about 3 or 4 the first day and then taper off down to 1 pill a day for a few days. it's not something you can get rid of in just one pill.

the hives went away once i got the medicine into my system. but you do have to take them for a week or so to get rid of it completely. also i took a predisone the morning of my treatments as well. ask your doctor if this is an option for you.

hope this helps.

I have been practicing mesotherapy for 6 months. I have not yet had a patient like yourself yet that had hives twice. I have had a couple get hives once, but subsequent treatments were OK.

It would really help to know what was in the ************tail and what was removed last time. Very few mesotherapy agents are particularly allergenic, although allergic reactions are always possible.

Were you sick or using any new medications at the time of the treatment that you had the hives?

See if you can find out more about the ingredients and I will try to help.
