I've been bouncing around with the idea of getting neck lipo for over a year. I've been thinking about a chin implant for even longer than that. I've always had a weak chin, but I never really noticed it until a few years ago when my neck and face began to fill out. I've attached my profile. What do you think?
I know I'll need a professional opinion, but for now I'd appreciate peer feedback. Do you think there would be much of a discount if both procedures were performed at once?

Hi murdoc,

Just from your profile, if you had the neck lipo, it may just bring things in enough so you wouldn't need the chin implant. Then again, if you see a PS, they can probably do the computer imaging of your face to show what you would look like with, and without it.

Yes, nearly always you get a pretty good discount doing more than one procedure at a time. :D

Gosh, it doesn't even look like you need anything done. You sure you really need a procedure?

I looked at the pics, too, and I agree with Turquoise d 100%.

A good neck lipo is really all you need. You could do a small chin implant, but it's not necessary. BTW, have you heard about our digital imaging service (http://www.beautysurg.com/see/digital.html) ?

In the profile photo your anterior most chin point is behind the "e line" I would not reccomend a chin implant but an osteotomy that would slide the chin forward and give you a better neck profile. In addition neck liposuction would remove a small amount of fat and define the borders of your lower jaw. These should be done at the same time.

Can you tell me what an e line is? Just curious.

The e line is the esthetic line which is a perpindcular line that drops vertically thru the base of the columella of the nose in front of the upper and lower lip and the anterior most part of the chin. The chin point should be on this line and the lower lip slightly anterior to the e line. This is a point that is illustrated in Dr. Bruce Epker's book. Thanks for your interest.

Ah yes, I've seen a diagram of this before. Interesting. And it explains the esthetics of what makes a profile more pleasing.:)

Yeah...I already had an osteotomy three years ago. It was for orthodontia. I'm not sure how far they moved it forward, but it didn't require a transplant of bone to fill in the gap that is left. Face Doc, do you happen to know how far they can go before having to use extra bone?

Here's a pic of what I would like my results to look like if I got neck lipo. Except I would also expect a stronger jawline. I photoshoped the previous photo. Do you think this is a realistic expectation?

Yes, your expectations are realistic. It seems as though you had a sagittal split advancement. In some cases advancing the mandible and genioplasty(advancing the chin) are performed at the same time to improve the aesthetic outcome. The chin can be advanced full thickness of bone. We sometimes place allogeneic(banked bone in the step to soften the appearance.

I think your nose is perfect, and I do NOT see any need for you to have a chin implant.
