I am scheduled for a LSL in March and am having second thoughts. Just wondering if anyone out there had one at the Schaumburg, IL office? I have put a call in to one of the consultants but have not heard back. Is it normal that you never actually meet the doctor until the day of the procedure?

I am worried about the recovery time. I had planned on having it done on Wednesday and going back to work on Monday. I wasn't going to tell anyone but it sounds like there is not much choice with the swelling and bruising. The consultant I saw acted like I would be out and about the next day. I had planned on having it when my son and his family came in and then changed my mind but she gave me the impression that it wouldn't interfere. Most everyone on this site has indicated that it takes much longer than the consultants let on. Besides the bruising, are the stiches pretty noticeable?

About the stiches yes and no. Does your hair cover your ears if so NO they won't be noticable. The eyes you can't hide but the stiches come out pretty quick and then after a couple days you can use coverup on them. I have to admit you prob. won't want to go back to work for about a week. Depends on how well you heal. I smoke and healing takes longer if you do. I tried to quit but did not work.

Thanks so much for the information. I have already decided that I will try and have it done on a Friday and not plan on going back to work until a week from the following Monday. I am a smoker too but gave it up the first of the year. I am on the patch and so far so good, but I've tried a million times before. I think the anticipation of having this done is what is keeping me from smoking.
I wasn't planning on having the eyes done at this time because she did tell me that was a much longer recovery. However, everyone seems to have it done all at once which is probably a good idea. Did you have both done? I guess I'm being paranoid because I haven't told anyone except my daughter. Every time I have mentioned it in the past, I have never gotten any positive feedback; everyone always acts like I should just accept growing old gracefully. I have been divorced in the last five years and this may be the reason; I hadn't thought of it before then.

Yes I had the eyes done at the same time. They were bruised for quite a few weeks. Concealer worked well. Had one little bruise under one eye that took the longest(bout 4 weeks). My husband took me to all my visits but other than that I only told my daughters(25 & 32). They were ok with it but oldest was a bit more leary about it but OK. Husband was ok with it also. Just said if it makes you happy then I am fine with it. He did admit after about the 1st week if he had known what I looked like and went through he may have had a different answer!! He knows I do not take discomfort well, I just wanted to be left alone. Which he was ok with. The office did make it sound like a piece of cake but recovery is more than that. All in all I am happy with results but am still healing and sometimes do get annoyed with the pulling and twinges which I am told is normal.
It is irritating.

When did you have it done. I had my lsl done on Dec. 27 and my eyes give me a fit. My eye lids get so dry... I work and about 2:00 my eyes start to bother me. How are you eyes?

I had mine done on Dec 7, 2005. They don't really bother me too much. I only notice it when I curl my eye lashes. They do get a little dry from time to time but I think some of that is from Lasik surgery I had done about a year ago for vision correction. Not bad really. They did say at Dr.s office to have some moisture drops if I needed them but I already used them. Try that it may help.
