I can't stand straight after tummy tuck

Hey guys ..
This is my 2nd week post op.. after tummy tuck.
Doc told me on Saturday it's okay to stand up
straight. I can't do it. He told me I'm just scared... but
I can't... it hurts ! My stomach is sooo tight ?
Is this normal ? I'm still kinda hunched no matter
how hard I try !!! Please tell me this is normal

Hi Pamela,
Don't freak out! What you are experiencing is very common after tummy tuck surgery, and will go away. And it's not that you're scared... I know it really does hurt!

Just think, you've had skin removed, your muscles tightened, liposuction?, swelling, and been hunched over for 2 weeks to allow everything to heal. Of course it's going to take a while to stand up straight! Have you ever slept with your arm tucked under you for a few hours and then it hurts to straighten it out? Well just imagine having done that for 2 weeks by not stretching your abdomen!

Just be gentle and patient and little by little you will be able to stand up straight again. You dont have to force it, and dont let your doctor make you feel like you're being a wimp. Easy does it, and before long, you'll be doing backbends!

I have nobody here to talk to (past experience)

Whew.
( everybody keeps asking me why I walk so funny though )
I'm already back at work.... boy ..... so exhausted !

Almost everyone I know who has had a tummy tuck cannot stand up straight right away! Funny that they dont talk about it...

Standing up straight is my biggest complaint ever.. and is why I was so mortified that I was the only one who can't stand up after 10 days because nobody else seemed to complain ?
I do feel better though.

Just wonder how you are doing now? I too had a tummy tuck 4 weeks ago. I can now stand straight but it is still really tight. Yeah it's gotten better but I never expected this tightness to last this long. I have a feeling its going to be another month or so before I feel like my old self. Even my skin feels very stretched. Does yours?

Hi Kathy ... yes I'm doing just fine.... it will indeed stretch again...... and nooooooo problems whatsoever...

Now I wonder.. uh oh is it tight enough ? lol !
You'll be fine..... but I was freaking out for a while... it just takes time. Enjoy the tightness while ya can !
