I am trying to prepare for my upcoming lipo on 6/8. Can anyone give me some advice on compression garments? Do I really need two of each of the Stage 1 and Stage 2? Can anyone provide feedback on how comfortable one brand is vs. another? I've been trying to do some research on the web on my own, but find everything is so expensive! I don't want to spend a ton of money, but I don't want to compromise my healing either. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!

My first suggestion is to ask your doctor what s/he recommends. Often times what they provide is adequate, and they dont want you using something without their consent. They should provide you with something to start with... they'll place it on you immediately after surgery, and you'll wear that one for at least a few days before switching to something else.
One of each (1st and 2nd stage) is usually enough, though. Not 2 of each, and it usually does pay to go with the better quality (i.e. more expensive) one because the fabric is more supple, more comfortable, and has better support.
Let me know if you have any specific questions...

The reason for having more than one is so you can wash one while wearing the other. You're going to be wearing it all the time for a while and you will want to cchange into a clean one after showering. I
'm not really into doing laundry every day, I just took it in the shower with me and washed it there and put on another one. Then the next day, I'd do the same. I just kept rotating and washing.

I didnt find it to be uncomfortable at all. It is pretty thin. I wore it under my jeans with no problem. I kept wearing it after he said I didnt have to because it was keeping me warm in the winter!

You definately want to wear it for at least as long as your doc says. It holds everything in place while you heal. And, yes, they are $$ but you need it. I got one from the doctor after surgery and I had ordered 2 others from [ANOTHER PLACE-see editors note below].

Thank you for the advice! I am getting my abs, inner thighs/knees and upper arms done. What areas did you do and what garment did you wear? Did you purchase both Stage One and Stage Two garments?

I had my abs, belly, the whole mid section thing. The garment went down to my calfs and stopped right under my boobs. It has straps that go over your shoulder then hook in front. The one I wore home from surgery had 2 long zippers. The one I bought on the side had no zippers. They both have a huge hole in the crotch so you can go to the bathroom without taking it off or pulling it down. Your butt peeks thru for all the world to see, :)

editor's note: look for our new recovery store, including recovery garments, coming soon to the SHOP section of beautysurg.com!

and you can see the different styles available. Ask your doctor where they get them, too.
Oh I also had this stupid belly binder cincher thing. I HATED that. Thankfully I only had to wear it for a few days.
