I have been on this treatment already for 4 seesions (a.k.a. 4 weeks). Earlier I had said that after my first session, I had some stratches. The doctor fixed it the second time and I have had no problems. With the brusing, I just just Arnica ointment, which you can get at Wholes Foods. I have had great success. I have lost 4 inches in my waist, 3 inches in my lower abdomen, and 3 inches in my hips. My diet and exercise have not changed, so I am sure that if it did, it would have been a lot more. Weight, I have lost 7 pounds total. I love this method. It has given me great motivation. Along with the meso, I have also started endermologie before each treatment. If you are from the Houston, TX area, you need to check out this office. They are wonderful. www.antiageinstitute.com (http://www.antiageinstitute.com)

That's wonderful news. How do you feel after a treatment? Do you notice any side effects?

I am hoping for the best! I am a pretty fit male, with too much baggage on my stomach, love handles, etc. I happened to have sprained my ankle the day before, so I had the luxury of vicodin during the procedure. Didnt really mind it at all. THe RN and I pretty much chatted the entire time. One or two pricks were the kind that make you go Ouch for a second, the others were no biggie. Little blood, not really any bruising on me, just a bunch of dots. I am really hoping that th
is works for me. I can say that this office is VERY inexpensive compared to many. $250 a session for my entire abdomen/love handles area. I have already had lipo on my abdomen a couple years ago, and have to say I wasnt happy with the results or the rehab at all. Dr Horndeski was my DR, and he is very affordable, and i had excellent care, i just wasnt pleased with the final product. Anyway, I will keep everyone informed as to whether or not this works. If i have the results meso_user did, I will be their biggest salesman. I just have my doubts like many since it is so new, and not a lot of experiences of others to go by. I am rambling...first treatment completed, 2nd one next thursday.
WISH ME LUCK!! Tony

i was told they always give a higher number than is typical, because it is hard to say. if they tell you 10, then if you get the results in 6 then you are happy! if they say 6 and it takes 10, you arent...i was told its addictive also. ex. if you look better after 6, why stop?! that will be me i am sure also, if is working, i am going for it. i think though that 10+ is probably for the more severe overweight. if this treatment works, i assume my problem areas will be helped with 5-6 treatments, and i expect to see some results by the 3rd treatment. hi hope to see something sooner. however, everything is guesswork, thats where the apprehension comes in!
I took my consultation as lets just take it session by session and well start to know. i love the feeling of hoping this stuff inside me is working 24/7. I wont love it if in 6 weeks i am wearing the same size belt..

i dont feel anything. keep in mind i am taking vicodin for my sprained ankle and it is hard to feel anything right now...i feel good though, i can say that:) and no more peeing than normal right now. i had it done around 9 hours ago. i did go to the driving range and hit some golf balls a few hours later, and my belly started to itch a bit, but not much. i read somewhere that i wasnt supposed to exercise. i should have asked more questions at the session, but i was just ready to dive in. ill ask more the second time. i walked out to a full waiting room(not all for meso i dont think), and asked everyone if i looked any skinnier...: ) have you been to the website for this office meso_user provided? i was impressed, and am looking forward to going back!

I think I went to check out that website, but didnt see anything about mesotherapy in particular. Was it there and I missed it? Maybe I'm thinking of a different site.

I went to have my first treatment with Dr. Kevin Smith. I saw him on Fox 26 news one morning and they mentioned he was the only doctor that performed mesotherapy - but he calls it lipodissolve. What's the difference and which on is more effective? My treatments are spread out every 2 weeks, and he recommend I at least commit to 3 treatments. I am doing my upper abdomen (lower abdomen is seperate). He charges $400 per session. I received 24 pin prick shots in my ab section. My stomach is so sore and swollen now but I'm hoping for some good results. I am thinking of changing to the antiaging institute since they charge $350 for a much larger area, but only thing is that it is weekly instead of every 2 weeks. I am going to consult with both doctors to see what would work best for me at the most resonable price. The shots really aren't that bad at all, it just stings a bit afterwards. Here's my doctor's website: http://www.smithctr.com/

Havent seen any results yet, but it seems as though it may be starting to work a bit...hard for me to say because i went to Jamaica and got tan,and I tend to look thinner tan anyway...
will let yasll know more after this next one...
ps the last one hurt a lot! wasnt on vicodin like i was on the first one. not anything i couldnt handle, but was easier being looped up on goofballs. I let out a few high pierced shrieks like a girl.
I plan on having at least 4 treatments to see what if any results I will have. The place I go had to set up a new fancy office for the treatments because of the rush of business, and the specialist swears she has seen some great results, and has some of her family going through it also which is a good sign!

Tromacho,
How long ago did you have your last treatment? I noticed for the fat sculpting it took a good 2 weeks before I noticed something change.

The only thing different about Mesotherapy and lipodissolve are the ingredients. There hasn't been much resarch about lipodissolve and from what I read on Brazilian sites, it is not recommended. Wait until more research has been done!

I have not seen any results, and it is frustrating. I have had 5 treatments and will have my 6th this thursday. some people take more to see results. I have had soreness after, etc, but havent seen what i hoped to see. i will give it at least one more treatment(the 6th one), but if that doesnt help by the next week, i will contemplete calling it quits on this and just stick to normal exercise and eating right alone. Its hard to stop though, because you feel as though you might be only one treatment away from actually seeing the results, and stopping too early is like wasting all of the money spent before.

you should see results after 1-2 treatments. It sounds like the protocol used is based on the French style of mesotherapy. In France, it takes many treatments to see results. It is very low dose, and it is not very expensive ($40-60/treatment). The more modern approach to meso takes components of french, south american (which utilizes the higher dose phosphatidylcholine AKA lipodissolve) and american medications. Cutting-edge mesotherapy uses higher doses, and should require less treatments (especially for body sculpting/spot-reduction).
Any patient that has not seen results after 4 treatments should consider a different options.

Dr. McCoy,
What do you think of ultrasound-assisted lipodissolution? I found it on Dr. Haddad's clinic website in Paris. I also found it on a website for a plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills but I lost the address. Here is the procedure page on Haddad's site:

Thanks for your expert advice!

minimum per area dosage of phosphatidylcholine, based on my experience, is 1200 mg. Dosages can be around 1800-2000 mg for an abdomen. This should be diluted with other injection components (mono-therapy with injected phosphatidylcholine is quite painful). Results should be seen after 1-2 treatments.

ultrasound assisted lipo is a nice procedure. My preference is to have patients exhaust all non-surgical routes first, since there is much less risk, downtime, and sometimes a better result (50% of my mesotherapy patients are previous lipo patients that are dissatisfied with their results).

What I'm talking about isn't liposuction+ultrasound. It's mesotherapy+ultrasound. I've only seen it in France and on the webpage of one m.d. in Beverly Hills. Do you have any thoughts on this procedure? It seems to make mesotherapy much faster and more effective, though you have to restrict your movements for 2 days post-op.
Thanks again for your advice.

As an MD who specializes in mesotherapy, I want to make sure that folks know that Mesotherapy and Lipodissolve are two different things. There are practitioners who imply that it is the same thing, so know what you are getting in your injections. Patients have the right to be informed regarding what is being injected into them! Good questions to ask of a possible mesotherapist for you are: What will you inject for my specific problems? Why will you be choosing those products? What are the side effects for those specific products? (Some things make people very sore and swollen, some things don't, for example.) What components could I possibly have an allergic reaction to? Do you do skin testing of your components? What complications have you experienced in patients? Did you do any of your training in Europe or was it all in the U.S.? What physicians did you train with? How long have you been doing mesotherapy? How, exactly, does mesotherapy work? If your proposed mesotherapist cannot answer some of your questions, perhaps you might consider a second opinion from another mesotherapist. Remember, mesotherapy is an *entire medical specialty* that treats much more than just "fat" and "cellulite" -- the training needed to perform all aspects of mesotherapy is a great deal more than the training to do something like Botox injections, for example. Know what you're getting and who you're getting it from!

If meso injections are at the correct depth, the use of ultrasound is not needed. Ultrasound is used as a tool to improve penetration via the increase in localized circulation (heat through sound waves/vibration). The concept of meso is to have substances placed in the intradermal layer, and having those substances slowly absorbed over an extended period of time (5-7 days). Use of ultrasound will speed up this absorption, which is not the intent of the treatment (increased risk of systemic absorption). However, I do not have personal experience with the procedure, so I cannot make a strong statement regarding efficacy...meaning it could work beautifully! I would consult with the physician perfoming this procedure and how the ultrasound improves the meso treatment.
There is an experimental ultrasound based technology that is for fat reduction and the reduction of cellulite (Ultrashape), but it is still in clinical trials (I don't think that it is available in the US).

Thank you, Dr. McCoy.
Correct depth- is the depth different for treatment of fat than treatment of cellulite? In the protocol you employ, how deep do you inject and what mixture do you use?
I might try the meso+ultrasound in Paris next month and post my results on this forum.

ultrasound assisted lipodissolution
Dr. McCoy
I need your advice for lipodissolution.
1. Hypotonic Pharmacologic Lipodissolution
If you do that procedure, PPC also included?
Hope to know difference from my protocol.
The components i use are normal saline, D/W, epinephrine, dehydrated alcohol, KCl, verapamil, tramcinolone. lidocaine, aminophylline.
Usually 200 CC of that solution injected.
2. What kind of needle or canular do you use for large volume ingection? I usually use 30 G syringe to inject PPC and do multiple skin puncture.
3. Ultrasound, I use 3 MHz. what is 1/2 value depth and intensity you prefer?

Hi meso user, I'm glad to hear that you have had such great results. To be able to do meso every week and endermologie right before each treatment is hard to believe! Most people are bruised for about nine days.
