Hello,

I gained nearly about 25 lbs just recently on a brief "down" period in which i really paid no attention to what I was eating and barely any exercise (I used to regularly and didn't eat very much sugar/high-fat food). I'm 25, petite, currently 117/118 lbs from a rather trim 95+ and I've had lipo before on my thighs and knees, was very happy with the result, but it was more of spot reduction...with this weight gain I noticed the fat was spread out all over thighs, buttocks and stomach, so I wanted to try mesotherapy as I thought it might be better in overall fat loss instead of targeting specific areas. Plus I didn't like the pain or downtime of lipo, but my doctor recommended it instead of mesotherapy (which isn't a familiar procedure). But as I wanted it so badly and the fat gain is rather much he suggested i try both.

Should I have mesotherapy before the liposuction? If after, I'm not sure I will have the time to try it (I return to my studies in the fall) and I'm reluctant to start lipo now at my heaviest weight before I begin a sensible diet again. However I have just three months, so time is a crucial factor for me, and I don't know when I should have it scheduled. Common sense suggests I pick a target weight at which I can have the procedure...any suggestions? As I said earlier the fat isn't in one specific area, but a rather distressingly thick layer on my inner thighs, hips and rear, and I imagine meso might be a better option (if not faster) if I want a reduction of at least 4 inches esp. on the problem spots like thighs.

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

PS. Is there a difference from being treated with aminophylline and lipostabil? What are the uses of the two? HEre they offer only lipostabil but not the rest of the mesotherapy options available to people in the U.S. and Europe...

Hi Frost,

Personally, I chose Mesotherapy because it was less invasive. I debated between the two also. I didn't chose lipo because I can't imagine wearing the stretch garment all summer long and couldn't afford the down time.

My doctor said he's all for Lipo especially because the majority of his patients are former lipo patients. He said Mesotherapy evens things out for them.

Thanks. Were you pleased with the results? How fast was it apparent that the mesotherapy was working?

I don't mind the compression garment really. The first time I had lipo, I wore it to work and the studio I was taking a training course in...it was really uncomfortable at first but afterwards I wore something called a Job's stocking (usually for people who need to reduce edema or swelling) But I agree, it really is a bother to wear if you're in a rush.

I started noticing some improvement after my 2nd visit (right before my third). I'm going for my 4th tomorrow. From what I've read and heard from people the 4th through 6th visits show the most change. The bruising makes it hard to wear shorts right now, so I'm living in capri's and skirts. It's funny, I did the meso so I can wear shorts and a bathing suit and not feel self concious. Now that I'm having the treatments and noticing an improvement, I can't wear the bathing suit or shorts because of the bruises. lol I'm hoping I'll be done by the end of June.

I've been told that lipo doesn't remove cellulite and can make it worse. I don't know this first hand, however, it's what I've read and heard from people. That is why I opted for Mesotherapy.

Did you have cellulite? What did lipo do for that?

Yes, if you have cellulite it does tend to worsen if you aren't very active. Immediately after I'd healed and there was no more swelling however I had a rather good silhouette, and exercise lessened the cellulite that had gotten more noticeable after the procedure...it was mainly just walking about on campus that got me at my best form. I'd like to be able to wear bathing suits and shorts too, but haven't for a while now (because my skin's gotten worse the past few years and it is rather un-elastic, I actually want to reduce it somehow) I think the best lipo results were on my outer thighs, though my surgeon was a little reluctant to remove as much as I would have liked (saying he wanted to maintain the shape).

Frost..

Here is the link to the place where I go. If you look at the pictures (before and after) those are HIS patients. My doc really has good results.
