Laser hair removal for Beards

Has anyone used laser hair removal on your beard? Does it work? Is it painful? Does it really remove the hair or does it grow back? Does it help with ingrown hairs? How many times do I have to do it?

I did laser hair removal on beard because I had really bad ingrown hairs. It hurt like hell even with the numbing cream, but it did really help my skin. The beard is alot less dense now, but it didn't remove the hair completely.
But I guess if I did more treatments I could have removed more hair, but I thought it would look funny not to grow any beard at all so I stopped after 6 sessions.

I just started using a lotion on my face that's supposed to slow down the hair growth. So far, I haven't noticed any difference but I think it can take a month or two before it starts working. I don't want to get rid of my beard, just not have to shave so much.
