My beautiful 13 year old daughter hates her nose. Unfortunately she got her dad's "roman" nose. She thinks it's big and approached me about it many times. After a lengthy discussion (with lots of reinforcement from me about how beautiful she is) I told her that I would look into surgery, and am currently looking around for a surgeon. I feel that she might be too young for this, but at the same time am afraid of how her appearance might affect her day to day teenage life, as she matures.
How early can a girl have her nose done? What are the average costs involved? Has anyone had experience with this sort of surgery in a young person?
Thank you
Debbie

I was 16 when I had my nose surgery and I'm so glad I had it done. I had wanted it when I was 12 or 13 but the doctor and my parents both made me wait til I was 16. (I'm 24 now). I hated my big nose, and was so self conscious of it. I had to beg my parents to let me do it (and to pay for it), but it made a big difference in my life.

Hi Pepper423,
Welcome to BeautySurg.com!
Most surgeons agree that one should wait til the age of 16 to 18 before having cosmetic nose surgery. The main reason for this is because the nose is still growing and changing until that age. Any surgery done sooner may be "undone" by the natural effects of growth.
Of course, there are also psychological factors to take into account. Some that favor having surgery sooner, and some that favor postponing surgery. I'm sure you can think of several example of each...
But, the bottom line is age 16 to 18, depending on your daughter's growth, and the surgeon's opinion.
