ive been considering getting cosmetic surgery on my nose for a while as it has resulted in a lack of confidence. however i am concerned about the reaction i will get from people i know and the risks involved in the procedure. i do a lot of sport and wonder if there will be any long term restricions to this. Also ive read that an overnight stay is usually required but not always, when is it not? i would be grateful if anyone could help answer any of these questions for me.
thanks

It's understandable that you be concerned with what other people think about you having surgery, but my advice is to do what makes you happy. Any one that has comments (good or bad) will lose intereset in your nose after a few days or weeks, and you'll have your results for the rest of your life!
As for sports, depending on what exactly you have done to your nose, your doctor will probably want you to avoid exercise for 2 to 3 weeks, and contact sports for 6 weeks.
Actually, it's pretty rare these days to stay overnight in a hospital or recovery center for nose surgery. Most people go home after recovering from the anesthesia after surgery, and then see their surgeon for follow up in a day or a few days.

i had my surgery in january 2003. my tip was re-designed and a little hump was rasped. there was nealy no pain after surgery.
i stayed one night in hospital and went home in the morning. the first week i didn't leave home but later on i went shopping. so i surprisingly met some friends. they thought i had a fight. when i told them i had thinoplasty they told me i were silly to do this.
three weeks after i went to work again. nobody noticed my surgery. there was a little scar unter my tip and a huge swelling but nobody else saw.
some month later i met some friends i had before. they did't notice any change!!!! hey just told me i was looking fine!
There were some friends who were surprised. some even told me i were mad. They said i had such a pretty nose....
I think you don not need to be affraid or concerned. There will be surely some oppinions you will not agree with. but in the end you have to be happy with yourself!

To whomever posted this last message...
It would be really great if you would consider sharing your story in the "personal stories" on BeautySurg.com so that others can benefit from your experience.
There are so many people who are scared of having surgery, dont know what to expect, worry about what other people will think, and wish they could hear from someone who's been in their shoes.
It sounds like all in all that you had a positive experience.
If you feel comfortable writing about it (anonymously), that would be great! Just follow this link to personal stories (http://www.beautysurg.com/share/personal.html) to read other's stories and submit your own.
Thank you for your thoughtful and encouraging message.
