Is it correct to say that ptosis is when the upper eyelid droops and lagophthalmos is when the bottom lid droops exposing the cornea? Or can lagophthalmos occur in the upper lids and ptosis in the bottom lids? Hope these questions make sense.

Ptosis simply means sagging. Usually it refers to the upper eyelid. Sagging of the lower eyelid is often referred to as lid retraction or ectropion, although lid retraction can occur on the upper eyelid as well.

Lagophthalmos is the inability to close the eyes, which can be caused by lid retraction of the upper or lower eyelids.
