cheek augmentation surgery -
Cheek augmentation surgery using implants is usually
performed with local anesthesia and IV sedation, and
takes about an hour to perform. It is carried out in
an outpatient surgical facility and you will go home
after recovering from the anesthesia.
incision location - Most
commonly, cheek implants are placed through an incision
inside of the mouth where the cheek meets the upper
gums. Alternatively, they may be inserted through an
incision inside the lower eyelid, especially if a midface
lift or soof lift is
being performed at the same time. If you are having
a face lift in addition
to cheek implants, your cosmetic surgeon can simply
place the implants through the face lift incision that
is made along your hairline.
implant placement - Once
the incision is made, a space is created over the bone
and the implant is then inserted into the pocket. Some
surgeons will screw or suture the implant into the bone
to prevent shifting during the healing period.
wrapping up - Once the surgeon
is satisfied with the placement and symmetery, the pocket
that was created for the implant is sutured closed,
and then the incisions are closed with either a dissolvable
or non-dissolvable suture. A head wrap or compression
bandage may be applied, along with cold packs, and your
head and shoulders elevated to minimize swelling.
Cheek augmentation may also be accomplished
with the use of various types of implants or without
surgery by using injectable products. To read more about
