Your doctor will most likely tell
you to wear your ComfortWear every minute of every day
during your recovery period. This is why garment comfort
is such a critical and important issue for
you to carefully consider before you make a garment
purchase.
Because of ComfortWeave's unique
moisture handling properties, you can even bathe in
your ComfortWear garment. Be sure to use a low-residue
soap, such as Neutrogena, to keep the special wicking
fibers clear. Towel off and your body heat will dry
the garment in about half an hour.
While this "wash and wear"
technique does work, most patients find it much more
convenient to simply keep two ComfortWear garments on
hand - one to wash, and one to wear while the other
is being laundered. Your Marena place of purchase can
suggest one of the convenient Patient Care Kits of two
garments; not only are they convenient to buy two garments
but they are less expensive than the same garments bought
separately. Note: Be sure to follow the laundering instructions
on the label, and never use chlorine bleach or fabric
softener.
How long you have to wear your post
operative garment will depend on your physician, how
quickly you are healing, and your comfort level. Be
sure to ask your doctor for his or her recommendations.
Many physicians worldwide prescribe
compression garments for a period of several months.
After a month or so, you may feel completely recovered
and feeling your best but remember, the hard work of
healing is going on beneath the surface of the skin,
where you can't see it. Your compression prescription
was based on clinical studies and your doctor's experience
- for best results, follow those instructions completely.
Wearing a postoperative garment
feels good in the beginning and you will be happy feeling
the benefit it brings you. After all, it is a specially-designed
garments with special features to make your immediate
recovery the most comfortable possible. However, after
a few weeks, as you feel better and better, you may
wish for you're your normal, personal undergarments
or intimate wear.
Therefore, patients wearing Marena's
ComfortWear bodysuits and girdles will be pleased to
learn these garments are available in two multiple-garment
Patient Care Kits:
Stage One or Immediate Surgery styles,
has lots of fasteners and zippers (to ease dressing
in the tender days immediately after surgery) assist
post-surgical dressing needs with multiple adjustments
and long zippers that minimize friction against tender
skin. These may be purchased separately and are offered
at a discount if you purchase two identical garments
to encourage continuous compression and improved sanitary
hygiene from frequent garment laundering.
Stage Two or Transitional, is a
less bulky, more fashionable and even more comfortable
garment for the later stages of recovery. For the later
weeks of recovery, they have fewer fasteners and no
zippers, simplifying the dressing process and making
an even more comfortable garment for nearly recovered
patients (who are less apt to cooperate with the prescribed
compression regimen). These may be purchased separately,
or paired with a single Stage One garment in a lower
cost "Comfort Kit."
Both stages offer the same medically
prescribed level of compression, and are made from Marena's
proprietary ComfortWeave fabric.
